Poisson Matting Based on Exemplar-Based Inpainting

چکیده

Matting is the process of pulling an alpha and foreground from an image or video sequence. It is used for compositing the foreground objects into different scene. It has an important role in film and video production; it enables directors to embed actors in any world such as world that exists only in our imagination. There are several techniques that can be used to pull the matte such as Poisson matting and Hillman technique. The main advantages of our technique over the existing techniques are that our technique reconstructs the background image and calculates the matte more accurate than the existing techniques. The reconstructed background image can be used to generate special effects such as the disappearing of the foreground objects. Our technique determines the color of background behind the foreground objects using Object Removal by ExemplarBased Inpainting. Then it uses Poisson Matting to estimate the gradient of matte from the image and to solve Poisson equation to reconstruct the matte. KeywordsMatting, alpha channel, Poisson equation.
